NEW Multi Holders for Smaller Diameter Pin Stubs

The 25mm diameter holder (#16142-25P) can accommodate up to four Small Diameter Pin Stubs, and the larger 32mm diameter (#16142-32P) holder can accommodate up to six. Ideal for desktop SEMs, where holder size can be limited, to enable loading more samples at once. Shown with and without Small Pins Stubs (Product #16142 Special Small Head Ø9.6mm, pin 8mm length x 3.2mm diameter), which are sold separately.

Material: machined aluminum with stainless steel allen set screws. Allen wrench included.

#16142-25P Dimensions are Ø25 x 10mm (0.98 x 0.39") without pin.
#16142-32P Dimensions are Ø32 x 10mm (1.26 x 0.39") without pin.

Standard Ø3.1mm (1/8") pin with a length of 9.5mm (3/8").

Mini Pin Stub

The Mini Pin Stub is ideal for small samples or parts which need to be examined individually. Takes less space with a head diameter of 6.5mm, small samples are easier to locate and it is a low cost alternative for the standard 12.7mm pin stub.

Compact Variable Tilt Mount

This compact variable tilt specimen mount allows for easy mounting and tilting small samples from 0° – 90° and SEM investigation with small working distances. Markings for 30°, 45°, 70° and 90°. Table size is 11x14mm (0.46" x 0.55"). Overall size is 14 x 14.3 x14.5mm (0.55" x 0.56" x 0.57"). Made of aluminum with stainless steel screw. Allen wrench included.

45° Pin Stub Holder

Accepts standard 12.7mm (1/2") pin stubs with 3.2mm (1/8") pin. 45° gives higher SE signal w/o tilting specimen stage. Grooved, machined aluminum with stainless steel Allen set screw. Allen wrench included.

Tilt Mount

This tilt specimen mount allows for easy mounting and tilting of small samples from 0° – 70°. It has index angle markings, with maximum 70° stop for EBSD. Specimen platform is 12.7mm (0.50" in diameter). Overall height is 12.7mm (0.50").  Made of aluminum with stainless steel screw. Allen wrench included.

Thin Specimen Split Mount on Pin Stub

For examination of thin samples from textiles, plants, paper, plastics, metals, etc., in cross section. Special wide opening up to 6.4mm (1/4"). Grooved head. Height of head is 7.4mm (0.29"). Pin is centered. Material: machined aluminum with stainless steel allen set screw. Allen wrench included.

Wider Version Large Set Screw Vise

Set screw vise with an open slot of 13.2mm (0.520") wide x 3.9mm (0.155") deep. Ø25mm (1") x 17.5mm (0.69") high. Made of machined aluminum with stainless steel set screws. Two sizes of set-screws included, M3 x 6mm and M3 x 8mm. Holder has a 9.5mm long 3.2mm (1/8") diameter pin. Allen wrench included. Also shown on right holding a UHV-EL Reference Standard for EDS/WDS (not included).

Double Slotted Mini Vise

Double Slotted set screw vise with 2 ea. 1mm wide by 3mm deep slots, pin 3.2mm (1/8"). Clamp thin specimens and cross sections without the need for tape or conductive paint. Material: machined aluminum with 2 stainless steel allen set screws. Allen wrench included.

PELCO Mini SEMClamp™ ø12.7mm

Mini SEMClamp™ on a standard ø12.7mm (1/2") pin stub. Convenient for holding flat or thin specimens such as Si chips, wires, foil and small tubes. Material: vacuum grade aluminum with brass screw.

Low Profile Hitachi M4 Adapter to Pin Mount

Low profile pin with standard 1/8" (3.2mm) diameter with 3/8" (9.5mm) length and 4mm M4 thread. Converts any Hitachi M4 type specimen mount into a pin stub style mount for use on the Phenom Desktop SEM. Can also be used to adapt Hitachi specimen holders with M4 thread to pin stub mounts which are used on many SEM platforms. Made from aluminum.

JEOL or ISI/ABT/Topcon mounts to pin stub

Small cylinder to pin mount adapter stubs. Enables the use of Ø9.5 and Ø12.2mm JEOL or Ø15mm ISI cylinder mounts on pin mount holder such as the Phenom Desktop SEM. Pin length 3/8" Material: machined aluminum with stainless steel Allen screws of 5 and 8mm, Allen wrench included.

PELCO Tabs™ Carbon Conductive Tabs, Double Coated

The simplicity of application and smooth, clean surfaces of PELCO Tabs™ Carbon Conductive Tabs are a significant improvement compared to many of the other common adhesives that have been used in SEM mounting. Both tab sides have a thick conductive adhesive (conductive inner tab is 35µm and the adhesive is 45µm on each side for a total thickness of 125µm [5 mils]) with a liner on both sides, a transparent liner and white liner respectively. They are ready for immediate use. The top protective liner does not have to be removed until the sample is ready to be mounted. This reduces possible contamination. Outgassing is negligible.

Many laboratories use these tabs for SEM in a large diversity of applications. Adhering of the tab to a mount or surface should be done slowly and carefully to maintain surface smoothness. Refrigeration will increase shelf life but a warm up period of one hour is then required before use.

The PELCO Tabs™ consist of a carbon fiber mat impregnated with a conductive adhesive. There is no internal carrier film. The conductive adhesive is a carbon filled acrylic, free of solvents. It can be removed from the specimen mount with ethyl acetate, ethanol, isopropanol, alcohols or our 3M™ Adhesive Remover 80924-1 which is solvent-free. Temperature maximum is 60°C (140°F). High purity carbon tabs may contain very small impurities of Al and Si; see EDX Spectra. This product may also be used for gunshot residue analysis.

3M™ Copper Conductive Tapes, Single Adhesive Surface

PELCO^® Isopropanol Based Graphite Paint

Conductive graphite paint, primarily designed for SEM sample preparation. The graphite flakes, with an average size of 1µm, are bonded by a cellulose resin with isopropanol as diluent. Good bonding properties on most materials. Graphite content is 20%. Ideal to mount samples on sample stubs or to make a conductive path to the sample surface. Let fully dry before using in the SEM. Maximum service temperature: 200° C. Use Graphite Paint Extender to dilute when needed.

Conductive Adhesives Comparison Table

PELCO^® Colloidal Silver Paste, Conductive

Ideal where a nonflowing paste is needed for special applications. Particle size: 0.4-1.0µm, 80% are below 1.0µm. Cures in 16-20 hours, or 30 minutes @125-150°C. Clear lacquer base. Approximate Specific Gravity 2.25g/cc³.  Service temperature = 200°C

PELCO^® 18 SEM Pin Mount Storage Holder and Box

Versatile, cost effective SEM pin mount storage box and holder for pin mounts with a ø3.2mm (1/8") pin. Numbered 1-18 with the spacing designed to accommodate all types of pin mounts with a diameter from 6.4 to 50mm. Can hold 18 of 12.7mm pin mounts, 8 of 25mm pin mounts, 2 of 32 or 38 or 50mm pin mounts with space left for the smaller pin mounts. Maximum specimen height between mount surface and closed lid is 16mm (5/8").

PELCO^® 40 SEM Pin Mount Stand

ideal for storage or preparation

This practical pin mount stand made out of clean solid aluminum is either useful for storage or specimen preparation of large numbers of pin mounts. The pin mount stand can hold 40 of the standard 12.7mm (1/2") pin mounts or 12 of the 25mm (1") mounts. The pin mount stand is compatible with all types of SEM pin mounts up to 100mm (4") diameter and with the pin mount type SEM specimen holders. Six of these pin mount stands fit on a shelf in a 12"x12"x12" desiccator creating a storage capacity of 240 standard pin mounts per shelf!. Also very practical for storing pin mount type SEM specimen holders.
The PELCO^® Pin Mount Stand can also be used for supporting pin mounts and pin type SEM specimen holders when mounting specimen. Ideal when preparing large numbers of specimens. One corner of the pin mount stand has a notch to aid as a locator. Overall size is 137x89x16mm (5.39"x3.5"x0.63").
