Purchase Order Placement
Orders may be placed anytime via our website at www.tedpella.com, via email at [email protected], or by fax at +1-530-243-3761. Office hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Friday 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PST) for placement of orders by phone. You can also choose to leave a message by phone on our voicemail.
Customer Account Number
Please use your Ted Pella, Inc. customer account number to best facilitate the processing of your order. If you do not know your customer account number or would like to establish an account, please make a request to our International Department.
Minimum Order Value
No minimum order value.
Standing Orders
Proposals for standing orders / blanket orders are invited.
Prices
If you have a question about placing an order, pricing, delivery, specifications, quotations, safety data sheets or technical data, contact our International Customer Service Department. Product SDSs and Technical Notes are available at our website, www.tedpella.com.
Prices and specifications are effective at the time an order is placed but are subject to change without notice.
Payment Terms
Payment terms are: Net 30 days from invoice date on approved credit, prepayment or payment by credit card. This applies to partial shipments as well.
Customers agree to be held to the terms and conditions as given on our standard invoice in effect at time of shipment.
Personal orders are prepaid by credit card. We accept MasterCard, VISA and American Express.
International Orders: Checks used for payment from foreign countries must be in U.S. currency, drawn on a U.S. bank. Payments made by check may be subject to the check clearing before shipment. Prices are subject to change without notice. Prices are valid for the delivery period specified based on the receipt of a purchase order or within the stated time frame of the quotation.
Delivery, Shipping and Shipment Terms
Delivery is ExWorks, Redding, California. Freight charges are added separately to invoice, unless otherwise specified. Possession of the goods passes to the customer at the time the shipment is loaded onto the truck for the initial delivery. The version of Incoterms we use is 2020.
FedEx is our primary choice for shipping, as have excellent discounted rates. UPS available upon request. Current traceability of your shipment may be found by clicking the Track Your Package link found on the Shipment Confirmation. Per customer’s discretion, Freight Forwarders may be used to facilitate transport.
International Trade Compliance
Acceptance of Orders
All orders and shipping destinations are subject to the export regulations of the United States of America. Ted Pella, Inc. reserves the right to not ship goods whose end destination is to an entity for which restrictions are in place by the US Government.
Compliance with U.S. Export Regulations
Ted Pella, Inc. strictly adheres to the rules and regulations set forth by the United States Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (“BIS”) regarding exportation. Ted Pella, Inc. is committed to, and fully supports export transparency. Customer agrees to supply Ted Pella, Inc. with signed end user certificates (BIS Form 711) if required.
Ted Pella, Inc. is committed to helping ensure the national security of the United States by complying with all United States applicable international export control laws.
Sanctioned Countries
Customer agrees to adhere to all U.S. Export Regulations contemplated herein, stating that no re-export shall take place involving any items supplied by Ted Pella, Inc. to any of the following U.S. sanctioned countries (or others that may be added):
Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria
Re-Exportation
The re-exportation of U.S. items is subject to regulatory requirements of the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”), the Foreign Trade Regulations (“FTR”) and other U.S. and foreign government regulations. These export compliance requirements are the sole responsibility of the customer.
Re-exportation of Ted Pella, Inc. products to any destination, country, entity or individual listed on the International Trade Administration’s (“ITA”) consolidated screening list (“CSL”) is strictly prohibited. Export Control Laws
The customer acknowledges that they are familiar with, and subject to export control regulations, laws, and administrative requirements of the United States, including, but not limited to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”); Export Administration Act, as amended (“EAA”); the Anti-Boycott Regulations and Guidelines issued under the EAA, as amended; Section 999 of the Internal Revenue Code (Anti-Boycott Regulations); and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”) Regulations.
The customer therefore agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Ted Pella, Inc. and its affiliates against all damages that arise out of or relate to the customer’s failure to comply with these regulations.
Undeliverable Shipments
Please note, that while we make our best effort to validate the shipping address provided, with either what is on file or provided with the order, we cannot be held responsible for failure of the common carrier to deliver to the address provided. Non-deliverable costs incurred will be for the account of the customer, as possession of the goods passes to the customer at the time the shipment is loaded onto the truck for the initial delivery.
Hazardous Product Shipments
Ted Pella, Inc. is dedicated to safe product handling and shipping, conforming to all regulations by OSHA, DOT and IATA for land and air shipments. We also quote and set up shipments in respect of the Hazard Shipping requirements of the chosen carriers and destination country and cities. Our employees have been certified in US and IATA hazard goods handling law and practices to handle hazardous goods. Due to additional handling and special packaging requirements of hazardous goods, a fee will be added for each box containing hazardous products. This charge can be avoided in some cases where small amounts per container may be shipped as “excepted or small quantities”. A Safety Data Sheet accompanies each hazardous product sent. Safety Data Sheets and technical notes for many items can also be found on our web site at any time.
Insurance
All shipments are fully insured, unless we are notified otherwise. The insurance cost is included in the freight charge on the invoice.
Returned Merchandise Authorization (RMA)
We are committed to our customers’ satisfaction with our products and services. Our return policy is as follows:
Contact International Customer Service to obtain an RMA. Instructions for return will be provided with your return authorization. Returned goods will not be accepted without a valid RMA or after 60 days from date of invoice. For damaged, defective or incorrect items, please see “Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Shipments” below.

Certain conditions apply for acceptance of a return and issuance of an RMA:
a) The item(s) must have been purchased from Ted Pella, Inc.
b) Not more than 60 days should have elapsed from the invoice date.
c) All returned products must be 100% complete, in original packaging, and in good condition, with any software, manuals, warranty cards and other accessories and documentation included.
d) Once an RMA has been issued, it is valid for 30 days after issuance and cannot be extended or re-issued.
e) The following categories of goods cannot be returned:
- Special order products;
- Custom made or customized products;
- Discontinued products;
- Products on sale;
- Products supplied to the customer as an accommodation, including, without limitation, third-party purchases;
- Refrigerated or temperature-controlled products;
- Products which are altered;
- Products which have missing labels or identifying marks which have been defaced or mutilated;
- Any product having an expiration date close to, or having expired;
- Products which have been used;
- Chemicals/Hazards;
- Shipments returned without an RMA are subject to refusal and/or return to the origin, freight collect.
f) Returned goods may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. Buyer agrees that Ted Pella, Inc. shall be the sole judge in this matter regarding any returns.
g) When contacting our International Customer Service Department about a possible return, please have the following pertinent data at hand:
- Order number;
- Date of order;
- Customer code number;
- Product description and catalog number;
- Your purchase order number.
Firm Orders
Special order, custom made or customized products, products supplied to the customer as accommodation and orders with unusually large quantities require a firm order. Firm orders are non-cancellable, non-returnable and may require a pre-payment on order.
Damaged Shipments
Notify Ted Pella Inc. within 10 days of delivery date. If damage is noticed upon delivery, request that the delivery company note the damage. Take a digital photo if possible of the damage. Retain all packaging, contents, and packing material. Do not discard anything unless a hazard is involved (follow the correct safety rules for disposal or safe-keeping). Notify our International Customer Service Department and supply us with the following information from the packing slip:
- Our order number;
- Your purchase order number;
- Your customer code number;
- Product number and quantities of damaged items;
- A short description of the damage;
- Digital images if available.
Obtain an RMA number from our International Customer Service Department, who will assist you with return / replacement details.
Limited Product Warranty
Equipment manufactured by Ted Pella, Inc. is guaranteed for one year from the invoice date against defects in material or workmanship. Consumables in equipment are not warrantied.
Products sold but not manufactured by Ted Pella, Inc. are subject to the terms and conditions of the manufacturer’s warranty policy.
Defective products will be replaced, repaired or credited, and may require examination by us prior to replacement or credit. Liability extends only to the value of the product, or a portion thereof, depending on the circumstances.
The customer or user assumes all risks for product utilization. Ted Pella, Inc. assumes no liabilities in the use of these products for any direct, indirect, consequential or incidental damages arising out of their employment, results of their use or inability to use them.
Products offered by Ted Pella, Inc. are primarily intended for laboratory research use and are not intended for clinical, food, cosmetic, household, or drug use. They are not intended for use with live human tissue or liquids or human material unless specifically described for that purpose.
Hazardous Chemicals
Chemicals should only be handled by qualified technicians or scientists who are trained in laboratory procedures and familiar with potential hazards of such reagents. Many chemicals in this catalog can cause injury or damage in short or long term exposure.
We furnish Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and apply warning or hazard labels as required. Absence of such labels should not lead the user to assume that the use of the chemical is completely safe.
New Product Developments
If you cannot find a product in our catalog, we may be able to locate it or develop it for you. New developments are a vital part of our program and we are interested in bringing them into general scientific use. Such suggestions become the property of Ted Pella, Inc. unless otherwise agreed to.
