It is recommended that the customer always test a selected Marking Pen, knowing that the ink could bleed in certain situations or not adhere to a specific surface, depending upon surface, temperature, and how long the ink is allowed to dry.
Marking Pens should not be used on smooth glassy/plastic surfaces. Marking Pens should be used on a designated writing surface such as a frosted end of a slide, print surface of a cassette or on a frosted label area on glassware. Marking Pens may also be used on a label with the proper adhesive for an application or surface. View our selection of labels for the proper label and adhesive backing.
A sample pack of the three most commonly used and requested laboratory marking pens for histology and pathology laboratory use is now available. Each pen has different features for laboratory applications. This sample pack offers the opportunity to test one of each pen type first, to determine the best fit.

The STATMARK Pen is the ideal black marker - the one that histology and cytology labs have been waiting for. It has a permanent ink that, when allowed to dry, resists even the harshest chemicals, including formalin, ethanol, isopropanol and xylene. The writing remains clean, clear and legible throughout the range of laboratory procedures - including processing and staining. The ink dries quickly and will not run or smear. It lasts through fixatives, baths, dips, stains, bleaches, and more. Best of all, the STATMARK Pen will not readily dry out!

The Diamond PerfectMark™ is a permanent laboratory marker ideal for all laboratory-marking applications. It works best on glass and metal surfaces. The permanent ink is resistant to many laboratory chemicals & solvents. Testing is advised before use on actual specimens.
NOTE: it is not stable with acetone or alcohol.

Durable porous plastic tips with permanent, quick-drying, water resistant ink that writes on cold or wet surfaces, plastic bags, or disposable labware. Markings will not smear on reusable glass, metal, or porcelain labware, but can be scrubbed off. Suitable for general lab, hospital or industrial use (black).

Particularly suitable for writing on cryo-EM grid boxes and cryo storage vials, these markers feel and write like a pen. There’s no offensive smell, and the cap closes with a nice reassuring click. The ink dries fast and is waterproof.
Pen leaves a mark which does not charge and can be read under the electron beam in the SEM. Its carbon ink has a relatively high resistance and is most useful for marking or identifying objects.
