Our new line of PELCO® Silver Nanoparticles are precisely engineered to give monodispersed, uniform silver spheres with a narrow size distribution.
Silver nanoparticles are a great alternative to gold nanoparticles if absorption maximum is desired in between 400-500nm. Absorption in this lower range also allows for an increased dynamic range when developing multiplex experiments. Silver nanoparticles retain the same protein and other ligand binding properties of gold nanoparticles. Suitable for use in applications such as photovoltaics, biological sensor development, peptide/protein silver conjugate development, immunoblotting, Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy, light microscopy, and electron microscopy. Endotoxin free nanoparticles are optimized for sensitive applications such as cellular and toxicity studies, immunological studies, and aseptic assays.
Store product in the dark at 4°C. DO NOT FREEZE. Freezing will cause irreversible aggregation of the silver nanoparticles. Stable for at least 6 months if unopened and stored as specified.
Stable silver nanoparticle conjugates can readily be prepared by passive adsorption of a protein to the silver nanoparticle surface, which is mediated by electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between the protein and the surface layer of the colloidal silver.
This kit contains enough material to optimize 10 protein conjugates, or one optimization reaction and scale-up production of 20ml of conjugate at a final concentration of 0.06 mg/ml silver nanoparticles.
Each kit includes:
Note: Only use with PELCO® Standard Silver Nanoparticles
Kits for silver enhancement of gold and silver conjugate labeled samples in dot blot, Western Blots, and microscopy. Using these straightforward kits, sensitivity in the picogram range can be achieved in 5–8-minute staining time all while maintaining a low background.
Amplification of the gold and silver nanoparticle label is a result of the deposition of silver on the nanoparticle surface during the reaction and increases the sensitivity of the nanoparticle conjugate labeling up to 100-fold. This allows for detection of scarce targets.
Two silver enhancement kits are available, one for microscopy and one for membranes. The Microscopy Kit is ideal for use in light microscopy and electron microscopy applications, and includes 50ml of working solution (staining of 50-100 microscope slides). The Membrane Kit is ideal for applications such as Western Blots and dot blot assays, and includes 500ml of working solution (staining of ~100 membrane strips or 10-20 membranes).
