Associate Warehouse Clerk or Warehouse Clerk - Shipping


Ted Pella, Inc. is seeking candidates for our Associate Warehouse Clerk or Warehouse Clerk - Shipping position depending on experience to join our Warehouse team. This position will be trained initially on Shipping, but may also be assigned various duties throughout the Warehouse as needed to ensure the best service and support to both internal and external customers. This position reports to the Warehouse Leads, and the Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Shipping

  • Facilitate shipping of product orders to ensure timely and successful delivery.
  • Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Process Hazardous Materials to comply with requirements.
  • Properly pack, seal, and label box to prepare for shipping.
  • Utilize shipping software to compute shipping rates, based on size, weight, contents, hazardous goods, etc. Produce shipping labels and affix properly to each shipment.
  • Ensure packages are picked up by UPS, Fed Ex, or other shipment company.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the shipping area.

  • General duties

  • Perform back up duties whenever needed in pre-pack, stocking, receiving, and order pulling.
  • Ensure neat and organized warehouse at all times.
  • Work with customer services, sales, and other staff to resolve issues that arise.
  • Assist with any special projects or duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of work experience in shipping is required, preferably in a warehouse or production environment with some shipping experience for the Associate Warehouse Clerk level. More than 1 year of full time daily high volume warehouse or production shipping work experience is required for the Warehouse Clerk level.
  • Prior Shipping experience is required. International shipping experience is ideal.
  • Must be proficient on computers and able to type. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP system is a plus.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, especially with number sequences.
  • Must be able to learn tasks quickly, and keep up in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Must write legibly.
  • Must have good math skills, and ability to problem solve and make good judgement calls.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Must be neat and clean in work habits.
  • Must be able to handle small items with dexterity and count accurately.
  • Must be able to use precision scale.
  • Must be able to conform to company policies and procedures.
  • Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic.

Physical Job Requirements:

Must have excellent eye sight to recognize lengthy part numbers. Must be capable of being on your feet up to 8 hours per day and able to move around facility easily with occasional use of stairs and step stools. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally by yourself with a maximum of 50 pounds in a team assisted lift; have the ability to reach overhead and bend or stoop easily to the ground.

Working Conditions:

This position works in a warehouse environment with exposure to temperatures, dust and noise. Must be adaptable to inclement weather in heat and cold as there is no central AC/heat. Will also visit the office environment occasionally.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Pay & Benefits:

Starting pay rate is $16.09 - $22.61 per hour to start, or commensurate with experience. This is a temporary position, which may last up to 90 days, with the possibility of conversion to regular full time at the end of that time. If the position transitions to regular, full time, it will include generous employer sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life/AD&D insurance plans. A 401(k) plan with Company match is available after 1 year. Time off includes paid vacation, sick leave after a brief waiting period, and 10 paid holidays.
