Emergency overview
Appearance: Clear with a penetrating ester odor.
Immediate effects: Skin allergy.

Potential health effects
Primary Routes of entry: Skin contact, eye contact, and inhalation.
Signs and Symptoms of Overexposure: Allergic reaction on the skin.  Prolonged or repeated exposure can cause liver or kidney damage.
Eyes: Irritation
Skin: Irritation to skin upon repeated or prolonged contact.
Ingestion: Material may be harmful if swallowed.
Inhalation: Vapor or mist can irritate the nose or throat. Can cause severe irritation or possible permanent injury.
Chronic Exposure: Prolonged rabbit dermal exposures to certain mixtures resulted in central nervous system effects.

Section 4: First Aid Measures
If accidental overexposure is suspected
Eye(s) Contact: Flush eyes with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult physician if irritation persists.
Skin Contact: Wash affected skin area with soap and water.
Inhalation: Move subject to fresh air. Give oxygen.

Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Do not enter fire area without proper protection. Fight fire from safe distance (protected location). Heat / impurities may increase temperature /build pressure/ rupture closed containers, spreading fire, increasing risk of burns/ injuries. Water may be ineffective in fire fighting due to low solubility. Use water spray or fog for cooling. Pressure relief system may plug with solids, increasing risk of overpressure. Notify authorities if liquid enters sewer or public waters.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Heat can cause polymerization.  Heated containers can explode.  Vapors can travel to a source of ignition and flash back.

Section 6: Accidental Release Measures
Steps to be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled: Keep spectators away.  Eliminate ignition sources.  For large spills in confined area, use a self-contained breathing apparatus (pressure-demand, MSH/NIOSH approved or equivalent).  Dike and contain spill with inert material (e.g. sand, earth).  Transfer liquid to containers for recovery or disposal and solid dike material to separate containers for disposal.  Contaminated monomer can be unstable.  Add extra inhibitor to prevent polymerization.  Remove contaminated clothing promptly and wash affected skin areas with soap and water.  Keep spills and cleaning runoffs out of municipal sewers and open bodies of water.  NOTE: Spills on porous surfaces can contaminate groundwater.
Waste Disposal Methods: Dispose of waste according to Federal, State and Local Regulations.


Section 7: Handling and Storage
Precautions to be Taken in Handling and Storage: Store out of direct sunlight in a cool place.  Do not store near radiators, steam pipes and other sources of heat.  Do not store under oxygen-free atmosphere.  Leave air space over liquid surface in all containers; introduce air periodically if stored more than 6 months.  Use material within 1 year of retest for stability.  Stability-test material stored in bulk every month; drums and pails every 3 months.  Use positive pressure to replace air in vapor spaces of containers after sampling.

Section 8: Exposure Controls / Personal Protection
Engineering Controls

Ventilation required: Use local exhaust ventilation with a minimum capture velocity of 100 ft/min. (30m/min.) at the point of vapor evolution. Refer to the current edition of INDUSTRIAL VENTILATION: A Manual of Recommended Practice published by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial hygienists for information on the design, installation, use and maintenance of exhaust systems.

Personal Protection Equipment

Respiratory protection: A respiratory protection program meeting OSHA 1910.134 and ANSIZ88.2 requirement must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use. None required if airborne concentrations are maintained below the TWA/TLV's listed in the Information on Ingredients section.
Up to 10 times the TWA/TLV: Wear a MSHA/NIOSH approved (or equivalent) half-mask, air-purifying respirator.
Up to 100 times the TWA/TLV: Wear a MSHA/NIOSH approved (or equivalent) full-face piece, air-purifying respirator.
Above 100 times the TWA/TLV or unknown: Wear a MSHA/NIOSH approved (or equivalent) self-contained breathing apparatus in the positive pressure mode, or MSHA/NIOSH approved (or equivalent) full face piece airline respirator in the positive pressure mode with emergency escape provisions.
Air-purifying respirators should be equipped with organic vapor cartridges.

Protective gloves:  Nitrile or Neoprene.  The gloves listed may provide protection against permeation.  Gloves of other chemically resistant materials may not provide adequate protection.  Rinse and remove gloves immediately after use. Wash your hands with soap and water.  Gloves should be removed and replaced immediately if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.  NOTE: Material is a potential skin Sensitizer.

Skin protection: Use chemically resistant apron or other impervious clothing to avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact.
Eye protection: Use chemical splash goggles and face shield (ANSI Z87.1 or approved equivalent). Eye protection worn must be compatible with respiratory protection system employed.
