Life Sciences Product Specialist


Ted Pella, Inc., a worldwide leader in the microscopy supplies and instrumentation field, is seeking candidates for a Life Sciences Product Specialist (LSPS). This position is responsible for Life Science product development and support activities, sales and marketing, and R&D activities related to the Life Sciences. This position works closely with other LSPS staff, the Life Sciences Product Manager and Vice President of Marketing & Sales to achieve their goals.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and grow sales of our Life Science specimen preparation products including:
    • Life science supplies for Transmission Electron Microscopy
    • Histology products including glass slides and storage, and sectioning blades
    • IHC and staining related products and sales
    • Light Microscope (LM) supplies
  • Keeps current with market trends and cutting edge technologies as well as use of existing technologies.
  • Be engaged in Life Science product development for items we design and manufacture as well as those we resell.
  • Learn our PELCO BioWave® line of products to provide assistance with customer support.
  • Collaborate with our Graphics department for Life Science new product photography, video production, brochure development, social media messaging, web placement, trade show signage, and other related marketing collateral.
  • Manage product quotation activities related to Life Science products with customer follow up to generate sales.
  • Develop sales forecasts for the relevant product groups.
  • Assist customers with Life Science technical questions.
  • Manage assigned Life Science-related trade show preparations and represent the company at those trade shows as part of a team.
  • Collaborate with team members and outside parties on development of products and applications.
  • Create and update operator manuals and technical notes for applications and instruments to support Life Science customers and our website.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelors’ Degree in Biological Sciences or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Transmission Electron Microscopy experience and 3 years of Histology experience including specimen preparation and imaging experience.
  • Knowledge in several of the following is useful:
    • Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
    • Immunofluorescence
    • Animal research
    • Knowledgeable in the use of different types of microtomes: Vibratory slicer, rotary microtome, cryostat, and ultra-microtome
    • Tissue Processing and general sample preparation for both electron microscopy and light microscopy
    • Lab Instrumentation
    • Laboratory Consumables
  • Must be knowledgeable in one or more of the following areas of the Life Sciences:
    • Histology
    • Neuroscience
    • Immunology
  • Cryo-EM and Immuno EM experience is desirable, as is Certification in Biological TEM through MSA.
  • Knowledgeable with the various areas of Light microscopy, with practical hands-on experience preferred.
  • Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) lab experience is a plus.
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) lab experience is a plus.
  • Experience with public speaking and leading meetings is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate on a team.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with co-workers and build relationships with clients.
  • Superior attention to details and problem diagnosis and solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language fluently for writing and speaking.
  • Proficient in current versions of Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other standard office technology.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to trade shows, clients, workshops.
  • This position is a full time “in-person/in-office” position located in Redding, CA.
  • Must be authorized to work in U.S. without sponsorship.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and/or as needed on weekends and evenings for attending tradeshows and traveling.

Salary/Benefits:

The annual salary range is $79,733.33 - $111,626.67 plus an excellent benefit package. Pay rate is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include a generous medical, dental and life insurance plan, a 401(k) plan with Company match, paid vacation, sick, and holidays.
